We all know the supplier ecosystem is a complex one. Retailers are consumer facing, but they are not alone in responsibility for out-of-stocks. Between providing too much product, improper delivery schedules and not being able to fill orders in a timely manner the suppliers are responsible for billions of dollars of lost sales opportunities as well.
A lack of communication between the retailer and supplier community leads to the potential for inefficiencies and a disruption in the supply chain process. This puts brand and store loyalty at risk. Retailer and supplier communities need a platform in which they can collaborate to resolve out of stock conditions. Better system integration and data sharing between both parties will greatly improve the supply chain process.
